A passionate outdoorsman with a spirit of adventure, Salvador Alicea has been a landscape photographers for over 30 years. Moreover, Salvador Alicea has often lectures and offered workshops on photography the last 7 years.
Salvador became interested in photography ever since he bought his first 35mm camera in the 1980s and joined a photography club at the University of Puerto Rico during his college years. In 1985, he began formal studies in photography. He completed a two (2) year course in Sciences of Photography at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus.
Upon finishing his studies, Salvador became an assistant to a great photographer, with whom he shared three wonderful years. During this time Salvador learned the art of photography, growing as a human being as well as a photographer.
Salvador’s fine art photographic prints have been widely published , both in his native Puerto Rico as well as overseas. His prints has been featured in leading magazines, newspapers, calendars, encyclopedias, and other publications.
There is a lot more to Salvador than just photography. His background is as diverse as his landscapes photographs. Salvador is a mechanical engineer by trade; he is also a self-taught computer programmer and a proud father of two. Salvador has worked with one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, acting as a savvy technical leader in various branches of the field of Engineering. Has brought the discipline, attention to detail, meticulous planning and sound technical expertise that he gained during his professional career to his artwork.
Furthermore, whenever possible Salvador uses his photographs to call attention to the environment and its conservation.
